The Fourth Day of Christmas Films~ Going My Way

Going My Way
Rating of 5 out of 5 stars
This would have to be one of my favorite roles for Bing Crosby! A great movie for the whole family, not only for the classic songs but the meaningful message of the movie.

The Third Day of Christmas Films ~ Nightmare Before Christmas

Afternoon! Sorry about not posting this yesterday, but I was gone at a wedding yesterday. Anyway now for Day three of the Twelve Days of Christmas films! I decided to do a different format for the movie reviews to help me do better at keeping up to date on everything, by not taking as long to write.

Nightmare Before Christmas
Rating of 5 out of 5 stars
This movie is I would have to say requires a certain taste. I for one do appreciate the odd setting, if rather gloomy and depressing (reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe personally). My sister had some interesting ideas about the plot, which I will let her explain to you if I can get her to write it (might be awhile so don't hold your breath!). Over all I think this movie is well made, and has an interesting premise, not to mention the amazing creepy songs! I would, on account of the scarier aspects of the film, not recommend this for children under the age of thirteen.
Favorite Quote from the movie:
"Look Zero, there celebrating! Whoa! Watch it down there you almost hit us!"

The Second Day of Christmas films ~ Little Drummer Boy

Good evening everyone! Hope everyone is having a good Christmas! Now for a update of the Twelve Days of Christmas Films!

I suppose this isn't one of my favorite of the Christmas films, maybe it has something to do with the fact that I was always terrified of it when I was younger. Still I think it is a wonderful show, though it does creep me out at a few points ... that one song that he sing about the animals not being able to smile, and the one lamb looks like a toad, still makes me shiver!
Anyway the thing that I liked the most about this movie, apart from the story, was the music which absolutely perfect for the film! It always makes me sad when they try to change the music of the little drummer boy into rock music, it just isn't cricket I say! Sorry about the incoearnce (and no that is not spelled correctly) of this post, maybe all those sugar cookie are starting to effect my brain....

The First Movie of Christmas ~ It's a Wonderful Life

I have no doubt in my mind that I have see this movie since I was two years old. Every Christmas we pull out this Christmas movie and watch together as a family. This Christmas being no different, I was reluctant to watch it. I had been part of a theater production of It's a Wonderful Life when I was about thirteen and acted the characters young Mary and Zuzu. It was a great experience, but let me tell you after memorizing nearly the whole movie and then preforming it five times, would make someone dislike the best of movies! Needless to say I was less then excited to watch the movie again. That's what I thought before I watched, afterwards, a 180.
Now it is one of my favorite holiday movies! I just love the cast (did before too, but never mind.) Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed did extremely well in their roles! When I was littler (before I started loathing it) I had always sympathized with Mary when she was younger, I just couldn't understand why she had to grow up and fall in love with the boy, ruined the whole thing for me! Now that I watched again, I find myself sympathizing with Mary again, this time when she's older! It's funny how things change with time, and our very ideals as mature as well.
Life is wonderful! Beautiful in it's complex simpleness. I love how this movie shows life and it's importance. It truly is a wonderful movie!

I'm back!

Good morning everyone! I'm back from my spiritual/vocational retreat with the carmalites, it was lovely, but would have been even more lovely if I had discerned what God is calling me to be! Ah well, those are the breaks. Anyway I am very busy with finals lately, I'm just about to start my exam for Math. I have gotten everything else done, Hurrah! Oh wait I've still got Biology! I'm doomed!

Enough about those depressing topics, I have just about started the mad, crazy rush to finish the different christmas gifts for my family and friends. If your like me you have way too many people to get presents for, but too little money to get them anything nice, and too little time to make them really nice things like sweaters. Then I found these lovely felt flower broaches! I have already made about three of them.

I will try to post some pictures of the ones that I have made when I have a little extra time! Til next time!

What I'm doing this weekend....

Sorry about not posting for awhile, busy unfortunately with finals and such (and that haven't even really began yet, I'm doomed!) So I have been working especially hard this week to take off the weekend, and I kinda over did it and now I really don't have any school assignments left to do (weeell, at least the ones that can't wait until next week.)

So can you guess what I'm doing this weekend? Visiting the Caramelites of Mary!
I will have to admit that I am a little nervous to visit, can't really say exactly why. One of my friends from our homeschool group is coming with me, which I am very grateful to have a companion on this trip.

Why am I visiting? Well, that a bit of story to tell, and maybe someday I will tell it all but, basically, I have been having some difficulty determining what God's will is for me in my vocation, I determined that I would have to discern where God is calling me before making a major decision like going to college, or anything else like that. I at least want to know what step I should take, and it is in my personality to learn everything I can about something before making a big decision. I thus wanted to find out all I could about all the different types of vocations there are, married, single or religious. Out of all the possible vocations, I realized that I knew the least about Religious life. Well I suppose that is a little bit exaggerated, but of all the vocations that is the one that I haven't really considered very seriously. I remember that when I was little I was certain that I was going to become a Poor Clare, but that was back when I couldn't understand why people ever got married. It has been awhile since then, oh, I long for that sort of certainty!

I only wish I knew what God has in store for me! Well to put simply, I have felt that God wants me to visit the Carmelites, I can't say for sure whether or not I'm called to the Religious life, but I know that I can't make that call without having ever visited them. I ask for your prayers this week, that I may know what God's will is for me. I will write more about the visit later this week!
